Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do we request help from Project Thrive? A: First review our Five to Thrive model and confirm whether you are interested in committing to the safety and education standards of Project Thrive, as well as committed to finding and applying more self-sustaining programs. Then review our questionnaire so that together we can identify some solutions that may help you be more self-sustaining. Then after your program director formally requests several potential solutions, we add them to our Project Thrive wish list and see if we can get funding for your items. Once funding is acquired we help you purchase the items. Q: Why self-sustaining solutions? A: There are hundreds of millions of orphanages in the world. Funding even one in full can be a daunting task. When orphanages are focused on day to day survival, funding long-term solutions that can make costs more manageable is almost impossible to focus on. Often it could amount to choosing starvation today for food tomorrow. However, if thousands of orphanages applied self-sustaining practices, then that means tens of thousands of children that can have more stable long-term support. This leverages the funding of our donors many times over. We can't fund millions of children, but the right models could! Q: Will you tell us what to choose? A: No. We will suggest items and we can help you narrow down your choices, but in the end it is up to you to choose. Our donors choose what they want to fund. Q: We need money for operational funds. Can't you just give us money for that? A: No. But our programs in essence offer you long term savings, which means your current funding stretches farther. Let's say you examine your expenses and determine that your biggest expenses are cooking fuel, water and emptying latrines. You could then go to www.ClayForEarth.org for sustainable options to those expenses, Google for solutions, or contact other orphanage directors for their ideas. Then identify the cost for the solution(s) you choose and contact us, or your current donors for a donation for the amount needed to purchase the item. Our programs "run ahead" to provide support for tomorrow, while you focus on the important work of today.
